WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING
ABOUT THE BOOK?
As a freelance reporter, I try to get the experts I interview to open up, be truthful, and offer insight those experts might not have shared in prior interviews. Decoding Egos and Emotions for Success in Business gave me tools to not only conduct better interviews, but also interact with editors with ease. I apply the tips and scenarios to structure communication during the workday and with my grown children, friends, acquaintances and boyfriend. Decoding Egos and Emotions for Success in Business has been priceless in helping me to hone one of the most important skills we have in life: productive communication.
I manage a department of health care providers and found out early on how different each member of my staff was. They each respond differently. Some put up walls quickly when I approach them in my communication style, which is direct. Some respond positively. This book is helping me to learn not only who I am as a communicator but also allows me to assess my staff members. As a result, I can maintain positive communication, free of misunderstandings or misperceptions. It’s a good book for anyone managing a staff of people of different ages, backgrounds, experiences, etc
I love how the book simply outlines the Egos and Emotions scale, outlines the tools to using the scales and provides practical application examples on an employee looking to negotiate a salary increase, a manager conducting an employee quarterly review or a customer account manager negotiating a contract with a customer. Really interesting read and helpful in the business world.
